With the smart forfour edition crosstown, smart graces the 87th Geneva Motor Show with a sporty-yet-rugged special edition of its flexible four-seater.

Crosstown, according to definition, is all about crossing a city – or about things found at opposite ends of a city. Which brings us straight to the natural habitat and user profile of the spacious smart forfour: the city and its immediate surroundings.

And since it’s not always smooth running (or paved roads) beyond the city limits – and even within – the rugged crossover outdoor styling is a perfect match for the new smart forfour edition crosstown.

Special detachable front and rear underride guard-look parts and striking side skirts lend the smart forfour edition crosstown a strong and tough appeal. They are paired with an equally powerful color scheme, first revealed at the smart forfour crosstown’s global Geneva debut: a strong graphite grey, combined with a black tridion safety cell. Further colors will be added at market launch.

Sports badge: turbo engine and wheel arch liners

The smart forfour edition crosstown is powered by the tried-and-tested turbo three-cylinder 66 kW (90 hp) engine with 5-speed manual transmission, while 185/50 R 16 tires (front) and 205/45 R 16 versions (rear) ensure the special edition’s well-grounded traction, here paired with 16-inch 8-Y-spoke allow wheels painted in black.

The characteristic wheel arch liners with smart lettering clearly show that this smart forfour plans to follow its own, individual path. At the car’s rear, an exhaust system with chrome-plated tailpipe trim adds to the dynamic look while the sports suspension lowers the smart crosstown by ten millimeters.

Classy grey exterior and audio streaming

The exterior’s mineral grey also dominates the interior – right down to the steering wheel’s decorative topstitching. Beyond automatic climate control, the model’s Cool & Audio package also offers a range of sound-related benefits ranging from AUX and USB connections to a hands-free system, and audio streaming – for a crystal-clear audiophile experience on the road.

In addition, several storage spaces and stowage nets ensure that your active lifestyle gadgets always stay in place, wherever you go, while a retaining strap safely secures objects on the front passenger seat.

Last, but not least, the smart forfour edition crosstown comes with so-called privacy glazing, i. e. dark-tinted, heat insulating glass for the rear side windows and rear windshield.

In short: As a small, compact limousine with plenty of space for outdoor explorations, the smart forfour edition crosstown is a great choice for all active heroines and heroes planning to head out for urban adventures in the city – and beyond.

The special edition will be available for order from July. Expect the first models to hit dealerships in fall.
