The gardens are often commissioned by art institutions – Tate Modern supported the first Edible Estate in London in 2007 – and the first cycle of growing and harvesting is presented in a public exhibition with information on how to plant your own Edible Estate. However, this is not a rarefied art experience, as Haeg says. “You should be able to look at the Edible Estates gardens and imagine doing something similar, or even better, in front of your own house.”
