During the work week, I ride my bicycle into the city of Pittsburgh as a mode of transportation. I look forward to the fall with its foggy mornings, reminiscent of my childhood in Pittsburgh at the close of the steel industry. It is on these morning rides, in all seasons, that I see echoes of what Pittsburgh was and what she has become – and it is marvelous. Fog intertwines and envelopes the entire urban landscape and produces the soul only visible to those who are moving about so early.
