All Woensel-West inhabitants possess an “energy credit card” which is topped up through solar collectors on the roofs of houses, by working out in an energy-generating fitness center, or by using a special bicycle dynamo. Credit can then be either consumed or transferred to neighbours in swaps, adding a social benefit to the environmental one. Could this scheme be implemented all over Europe?
