Our image shows a rider astride a winged horse on top of Vienna’s opera house, surrounded by a sky filled with striking clouds. The opera represents the city’s imperial heritage. To us, the dramatic scenery conveys an aspect of self-limitation that is inherent in the Viennese mentality: Despite its rich framework and variety of cultural institutions and its promising location, there is also something static and withdrawn about Vienna. Against this background, the winged horse symbolizes both dynamics and detachedness, a means to overcome anachronistic formats. The sky tears open and marks the awakening – fly, Pegasus!
