My photographic response to this particular ‘Change of View’ took me to the 125-year-old Viktor-Adler-Market in Favoriten, the 10th district of Vienna. To me, the soul of Vienna truly shines in the tremendous quality of regional food on display at the many traditional markets scattered across the city. Even today, large parts of the city are still used for farming and they cover Vienna’s entire demand for high-quality vegetables. At the same time, many citizens have started to get into urban farming and growing their own food, a fact acknowledged by public administration. Community gardening projects continue to spread and proliferate, even at the very heart of Vienna.
