Compact, practical, and now with an exclusive look: At the Geneva Motor Show, smart introduces the limited smart fortwo cabrio | BRABUS edition.
Anyone spending nights on end dreaming about the new smart fortwo cabrio can now upshift to an even more intense dream phase: The smart fortwo cabrio | BRABUS edition celebrates its global premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (3-13 March).
The features that make this special edition – only 200 vehicles are being produced – so, well, special are easy to spot: Take the car’s exclusive “light blue matt” finish, its tritop fabric soft top in grey – and then add a touch of characteristic and unique BRABUS design to the front spoiler, rear apron, light alloy wheels and rear diffusor. The result is a smart fortwo cabrio with an extra sporty edge.
A gem of urban design
The car’s sporty and exclusive concept continues in the black/blue/grey interior. Here, mixed surfaces accentuate the futuristic and functional interior.
A 3-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel in leather with BRABUS topstitching and shift paddles, and brushed stainless steel sports pedals complete the collector’s item.
Additionally, the Cool & Media package (including a 7-inch multi-touch display), Comfort package, Stowage package, LED & Sensor package, heated seats for driver and passenger and a larger 35-liter fuel tank come as standard with the exclusive model, available from May 2016.
Pure driving pleasure with the BRABUS Sports package
The new smart fortwo cabrio | BRABUS edition is based on the marque’s tried-and-tested three-cylinder engine with 66kW (90 hp) and handles like a dream thanks to its twinamic 6-speed dual clutch transmission and the BRABUS Sports package.
This comes with a lowered BRABUS sports suspension (by 10 mm), the BRABUS “Monoblock IX” 16/17 inch alloy wheels in grey matt, a front spoiler and rear bumper in bodypanel color as well as a rear diffusor in grey matt. In addition to this, the lettering ‘BRABUS edition’ in the mirror triangle unmistakingly identifies the smart fortwo cabrio as an exclusive highlight.
Since every smart fortwo cabrio, including the BRABUS edition, passes the same stringent safety tests as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class convertible, the limited edition also comes with advanced assistance systems previously reserved for higher vehicle classes.
Standard features include latest-generation ESP with Crosswind Assist and hill start assist, while forward collision warner and Lane Keeping Assist are available as optional extras.
Soft top with a maximum of flexibility
Yet the model’s secret weapon remains its incredibly versatile roof. It not only opens in just twelve seconds, even at top speed, but also offers plenty of flexibility. At the touch of a button, it turns the car into a two-seater with a large folding roof.
And those who crave even more fresh air can remove the roof bars and stow them inside the tailgate to turn the smart fortwo cabrio | BRABUS edition into a full-blown convertible.
A clever feature no other compact limited edition offers – or indeed any other small car. So, our forecast for this corner of Switzerland during Geneva Motor Show would be: bright and sunny convertible weather – at least at the smart trade fair booth.
